A school shooting happened in a nearby town yesterday & amidst all of the horror & trauma & heartbreak, a local petting zoo opened their doors today to anyone from that district to come for free to cuddle, snuggle & hug on all of their animals. ❤️

A parenting milestone I don’t know to look forward but that happened today: I went running with the kids beside me on their bikes & we played Taylor Swift on my phone & we all sang together joyfully at top volume. Core memory, absolutely.

I just returned to my office after being at the first 2 hours of the #FreePalestine protest & encampment at UW-Madison. I am so proud of our students & am fundraising for protest supplies, bail funds (if needed). I’m @/$ SamiSchalk on PayPal & CashApp respectively.

My 7 year old: “Mom. You are not going to believe this. I wore this dress YESTERDAY & *somehow* it’s already clean & back in my closet. Like HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN. It’s magic, I swear.”

Dr Evans (MSc, PhD) 🧠 Nurses often have a terrible time with their weight, my MIL and SIL both do, as a nurse time for healthy food is scarce, night shifts damage circadian rhythm, stress is high and exercise due to fatigue is low. Nurses care for our health but in doing so damage their own.

What was the best part of your day today?

Doug Davis, BSN RN, DiDMM My father used to tell anyone who said they would pray for him 'And I will sacrifice a chicken in your honor. That will be equally useful.' He didn't object to their faith, just the notion that he was somehow required to participate.

Getting rid of EMTALA, which the Supreme Court seems poised to do, means that if you show up to an ER bleeding to death from a car accident, the hospital can decide if you look rich enough to save.

PLEASE leave a patient how you found them or even better. If you unsnapped their gown, took off a dressing, muted their TV, turned their lights on brighter…undo, fix, redo, make right all of that before you leave the room.

Not only for patient safety but their dignity as well!
