One of the things I love about living on a farm is the wildlife I get to see. Spotted this coyote this morning. It took him a minute to spot me!

Ok #popgen tweeps- How steep is the learning curve for G-PhoCS? Is it the best option to infer populations splits and timing of migration bands of several populations?

I had no idea so many people were pro-HOA. “If you don’t have an HOA, will you do when your neighbor neglects their lawn?” Why?!?! would I do?!! anything?!?!? I literally cannot fathom something that would concern me less.

When I started in plant phenotyping we'd ask: How close can we get to human performance? Now Nikee Shrestha (Nikee Shrestha) is asking: How much better than humans are we doing?

The field's focus on sweeps feels like a form of observational bias. What is easiest to observe in genomic data captures our attention disproportionally to their importance in nature. Most fitness Va is polygenic and very likely the bulk of it is just mutation selection balance.

We know that DNA introgressed from one population into another is often deleterious, but why? Carl Veller and I show that stabilizing selection, by itself, can induce selection against introgressed ancestry. doi.org/10.1101/2024.0…
