We need a step change in financing nature recovery including rewilding, if we are to significantly restore biodiversity, mitigate the impacts of climate change and ensure a sustainable future for food production. Here’s our Rewilding Britain report recommending how this could be done.

After the energy from the #RestoreNatureNow March it was lovely to head to the Forest of Dean to spend time with nature. What an evening for it - dippers, woodcock, fallow deer, bats, owls and even saw some wild boar (as well as signs of them rootling and eating bracken)

Wow, nearly 8,000 have signed our petition - so close to our 10,000 goal! And nearly as many wrote to their candidates urging them to support #rewilding. If you do one Wild Act ahead of voting – make it this 🌱 and create a wave of public support: i.mtr.cool/rmunhwoioy

The reintroduction of wolves to Isle Royale Natl Park didn't just impact moose; the wolves also impacted fox + marten populations. Foxes compete w/ martens for food + sometimes kill them. Foxes stayed away from wolf kills, allowing martens to thrive. wpr.org/news/study-tra…

Brilliant day out at Newtondale in North York Moors with Forestry England Wilding team. One of their Big 4 rewilding sites - with E. Kielder, Wild Purbeck and Neroche - totalling 8000 ha rewilding. Non-native conifers to be removed and natural regen of native species will follow.

Once more, with feeling. Rewilding is not controversial because of its name, but because it's a challenge to the way we have used and valued land. Whatever we call it people will contest and challenge it and interpret it, and that's fine, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't do it.

We stand with Beaver Trust: it's in everyone's interests to get a clear policy on wild beaver releases in England! On rewilding sites beavers have brought amazing benefits from flood mgmt to more biodiversity - but families are outgrowing enclosures. (1/2) theguardian.com/environment/ar…
