Delighted to be working with Trees for Life on the Wild Pine Project. This week we took samples to work out tree ages in this previously unrecorded West Highland site. One tree even had axe marks where ‘fir candle’ tapers had been taken long ago. #dendrochronology #rewilding

So lovely to see the young plants in our #montane #willow seed stand planted last month at #Corrour looking very healthy ready for the summer. The #catkins are being visited by #hoverflies & #bumblebees , & we could even get some seed this year!

Some exciting #invertebrate records at #Corrour : Rannoch Brindled Beauty, a #moth restricted to the central Highlands that breeds on #moorland shrubs, & the Nationally Scarce #stonefly (Capnia atra), an #aquatic insect vulnerable to climate change.

A rare #fungus has been found for the first time in #Scotland by ES James Hutton scientists assessing restoration work on a Scottish temperate rainforest.

The Chamonixia caespitosa, a type of truffle, is typically only found in the Alps and Scandinavia.

Two of my dad's photos from the solar #eclipse in #Ohio on Monday 8th April. The classic view of #totality we had for 3mins 26s as the moon completely blocked the sun, followed by the very brief but phenomenal 'Diamond Ring' effect marking the end of totality! 🌞🌑🤩

Genuinely don't trust job adverts that list the salary as 'competitive'. Either the salary isn't actually competitive so you daren't say, or you are hoping someone will lowball themselves and are happy with pay inequity.

Whoever needs to hear this- I’ve had great career successes & heartbreaks that have rocked me like grief. I’ve made career decisions many have questioned. There’s no wrong or right path & I am a better person due to the bumps. I stand by my messy path, and I am rooting for yours.
