This is Purbrook Heath cricket ground in Havant, Hampshire. It still retains elements of the former heathland flora, with abundant Chamomile Chamaemelum nobile, acid grasses, and various legumes including Strawberry Clover Trifolium fragiferum. It's fair to say that this has been rather a spectacular week! I was ringing in some long grass this morning and this Wryneck turned up! The backing cast was great with 8 Grasshopper Warblers, 5 Whinchat, 2 Stonechat and 53 Sedge Warblers.

Perhaps a surprising choice, but this is my favourite plant: Field Woundwort Stachys arvensis. I never tire of seeing it, as here in an arable margin in Hampshire. BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland
