Mycelium bricks are not as strong as a conventional brick – but are much lighter: 60 times as light as the conventional brick: 43 kg/m3 as opposed to 2,400 kg/m3.

The Penicillium roqueforti is used worldwide in production of blue - the colour & flavour come from pigmented spores. Paul Dyer & colleagues Uni of Nottingham #WeAreUoN have investigated how the blue-green pigment is produced & created new colours!

Six or seven years ago, I nailed a few lengths of timber together near the house as goalposts for my two sons.

Look at the lichen encrustation since then: most of the crossbar is thickly carpeted. Thanks to the clean Atlantic air.
