The institutions, en masse care but with advantages, had had their day. The move to a community care model sounded great as a more humane alternative but the funds needed to provide adequate, safe, timely & proper care didn’t follow. It’s increasingly worsened as have MH crises.

1/Just been called by a concerned relative about their family member with schizophrenia who has been off meds, unable to get access to a psychiatrist or MH team and is now in full acute relapse.

'It's crucial for younger generations to understand that success, empathy, and leading a fulfilling life can coexist with seeking (mental health) help & support.'
And for older generations 2 'get on board' with this pivotal understanding & not block the way 4 ppl to get MH help.

Couldn't agree more, 'Active psychosis intervention should be offered at any stage.' Proper treatment & education are core components. In time, with knowledge & management of SZ in hand, it will be realised that not educating carers/patients came at a cost to all involved. 🌻

This course, Caring for People with Psychosis & Schizophrenia is extremely well done & engaging. It was an invaluable resource 4 me when my daughter was first diagnosed with schizophrenia. It has interviews with carers/YP living with Sz & more. Educational & worth sharing.🙂✴️✅
