"Pensioner sued for not paying water bills to polluting firm in sea sewage protest Chris Stanley, 81, is refusing to pay Southern Water after the company was fined a record £90m for dumping sewage." And there it is. The paradox, the insanity and obscenity of the sewage scandal.

There's something strange and possibly very confusing tacked on to the end of govt's new Water (Special Measures) Bill, section 10. Who can tell me what it means?

This is just outrageous Why is the government backing itself into a corner by ruling out nationalisation? There's never been a better time to nationalise Thames Water, its own shareholders say it's worth nothing cityam.com/thames-water-b…

The water companies can sense Labour's weakness. There's never been a better opportunity to bring water back into public hands. But the government have shown they won't take it — giving tacit approval for the water firms to do whatever it takes to defend their golden goose.

"It's very clear that the water industry is exploiting the captured billpayers of this country and regulators are allowing it. Instead of allowing water companies to unfairly increase bills, Ofwat should halt these obscene dividend payments to shareholders. Labour's actions so

"Scottish Water does better than most English Water Companies and it is in public ownership" - it doesn't pay dividends and doesn't need shareholders Nor do we, so why is UK government so scared of ditching owners like the Chinese government and multinational BlackRock?

Our government is being tricked into leaving captive billpayers in the hands of financial predators just because they create more fear in the Cabinet than the public does. How do we change that? theguardian.com/business/artic…

We so wanted the change of government to herald a fresh start on water that we could all get behind. But the complete refusal to consider public ownership coupled with the extremely weak Water Act... It's not been a great start.

Thanks to @Carla_Denyer for joining the call for failing water firms to lose their licences and come into public ownership. 90% of the world's water is in public ownership. Why not here? ✍️ Add your name NOW: weownit.org.uk/act-now/stop-t…

Knowing that England's captive water customers have been ruthlessly exploited by voracious financial parasites - but now there is finally a chance to take back control and reform a broken business harming the economy and environment - he decides to give them another go!

Does anyone think that if Environment Secretary, Steve Reed, lets criminally operating Thames Water go to 'rescuing' shareholder predators he is going to allow the regulators to effectively enforce the law against water companies and CEOs and stop pollution being profitable?
