Wheeled Warrior Grahame Morris Huw Merriman MP We think there are two issues in urgent need of investigation:
1. Operators report on service quality to DfT across multiple 'Key Performance Indicators' + bonuses are paid on this basis. Rail contracts require 25% of audits to be carried out by 'genuinely disabled' people.
I really like and respect Grahame Morris.
But I think this is disingenuous by Huw Merriman MP.
We know that TOCs used non-disabled people pretending to be disabled to mystery shop and form part of statutory statistics to Department for Transport and ORR. So does Huw, now.
Yesterday Grahame Morris challenged the Rail Minister on train companies' use of fake statistics from 'mystery shoppers' who pretend to be disabled.
Huw Merriman MP said the data 'cannot be utilised' but avoided comment on whether TOCs have breached contractual requirements.
Clearly, if any policy decisions have been made on the basis of bogus information from 'fake disabled' mystery shoppers then this is a huge scandal 👇

Did any rail staff lose their jobs on the basis of the rail companies' reporting fake accessibility data? Were any ticket offices permanently closed, resulting in a station becoming less accessible? Louise Haigh
Association of British Commuters Emily Yates I raised this with the Rail Minister Huw Merriman MP at Transport Questions on Thursday morning. Minister indicated he would investigate further.

If this is true, it is disgraceful and utterly unacceptable. I will raise these issues with Commons Transport Committee

If you tender for vehicles that do not provide for level boarding, I will challenge the decision in court under the Public Sector Equality Duty.
Take note, Huw Merriman MP, Southeastern, London North Eastern Railway and other organisations currently contemplating tendering for or procuring vehicles.

'What we need is the inalienable right to Turn Up And Go and for Rail Delivery Group to be disbanded as the dysfunctional, two-faced organisation they are.”
Excellent investigation by Doug Paulley, exposing RDG false statistics.
Tanni Grey-Thompson Doug Paulley “RDG had originally told the regulator that the data was accurate but later admitted that in fact it included TUAG assistance “and always has done”.
Rail Delivery Group caught lying by ORR - Quite some admission they deliberately inflated assistance bookings to erode TUAG
