Super-rich UK non-doms avoiding £3.2bn in tax each year.

Tax saved by using the “remittance basis” tax break works out at around £125,000 a year.

Tax perks not available to normal Brits. So, it is discriminatory.

Non-dom status must end.

It is 60 years to the day since Silent Spring was published. In 1962, 37 pesticides were available to farmers. Today, there are more than 1,000, and total use is up tenfold. Rachel Carson would weep.

ZOE UK COVID cases today 171k 23% up on last week with three or four main SARS 'variants' circulating based on mutations, or fifteen to twenty circulating based on official sublineages.

Happy Days (for SARS anyway)

We haven't seen anything like this before. Uncharted territory

Would you be surprised to discover Tory MPs were tipping off hedgefunders or tanking the economy on purpose?

Those shorting the pound are linked to specific political decisions and specific MPs. This was what Brexit was about, read JRMs dads books.

I say we arrest them.

We should see it as an experiment: what happens when neoliberal ultras, schooled by the dark-money thinktanks, finally get everything they want?
Result: the economy falls off a cliff.

An international banker friend tells me:

“The hedge funds made a ton of money because they met up with 3 days before the announcement and they shorted Sterling big time - isn’t that insider trading in a mega way? I am appalled”

Electoral reform is not enough. Among other things we need the banning of all big money political gifts, donations and lucrative second jobs. We need a far more powerful Electoral Commission. And we need regional devolution to end the grotesque over-centralisation of England

This is big! Labour members just overwhelmingly backed PR 👏👏
Great news - a real sea change! Yet Keir Starmer has his fingers in his ears. People are crying out for fresh, progressive politics where votes count & voices are heard. And it’s coming, whether leaders agree or not

Robert Peston It is blatantly obvious that Truss and Kwartang are playing the markets to make money for their hedge fund mates. The only way this ends is if Tory MPs grow a spine and vote down the crazy tax cutting budget. But either way it’s win-win for those shorting the £

The media in the U.K. and around the world is stating quite rightly that the new PM of Italy Giorgia Meloni, is far right?

I looked at her policies and promises and she is almost identical to the British Conservatives. Why doesn’t our media call the Conservatives far right?
