Defying the odds, a pair of ring ouzels (mountain blackbirds) successfully bred on Dartmoor this year. Once widespread on the moor, numbers fell to one breeding pair by 2021, with none last year. (Photo: 2023 male with food) #Dartmoor RSPB England 🌍 RSPB Science BTO Dartmoor National Park
Artificial lawns should be banned. In the face of a biodiversity crisis, we should be creating habitats, not covering our gardens in ugly plastic where no life can exist. They're non-recyclable, dangerous to pets, the negative list goes on... please sign!!

Hi BBC News (UK), the lethal dose of hemlock is rather large. It would take a person eating a large handful (c.30g) to become seriously ill from conine, while the RHS has identified >130 highly toxic plants that commonly grow in gardens

Hugely excited that the Duchy of Cornwall, working with their tenant farmer & Natural England, will expand the iconic temperate rainforest of Wistman's Wood through natural regeneration
I hope this inspires others to bring back Britain's lost rainforests

This is a future woodland on a Dartmoor common today. It’s being made possible by gorse excluding grazing by sheep. Eventually the trees will shade out and suppress the gorse.
We so need to change the way we think about nature on the moor.

What a lovely surprise to find Jo Bradford’s new book in the morning mail. I’m delighted to see two of my #shotoniphone images, one astro and the other underwater, along with short tutorials, are featured. Thanks Jo Bradford 😀
We're hearing reports of Rowan, Horse Chestnut & Blackthorn bearing both fruit & flowers this autumn; Iolo Williams & others have observed the same phenomenon in Hawthorn; and Donna Rainey saw Wood Anemone in bloom last week.
Are you making similar observations in your area?
This is ABSURD. Solar power is rightly popular w/ the public who understand that it provides cheap, homegrown energy that brings down people’s bills. And solar SUPPORTS food production – providing a stable income for farmers helping them stay in business. theguardian.com/environment/20…
