Sometimes known as the snipe of the woods, the exquisitely camouflaged woodcock is mainly nocturnal, hiding in the dense undergrowth of woodlands and heathlands during the day.

Lovely outing to Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust Greywell Moors this evening. All to myself… except the Cetti’s warblers (loud!) a reed warbler (frenetic), lots of blackcaps (bubbly) , some beginner song thrushes and the whole place greening up nicely now. Such a tonic!

Fantastic and inspiring day at Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust #Rewilding Network event hosted by the wonderful Ewhurst Park. Beavers, boar and lunch of local and foraged food. Great conversations and momentum building for more rewilding across our counties. 🙌
