It might not be native but I was still deeply saddened when I had to have this cypress pine removed. Luckily, the arborist had experience and was 100% on board creating some bird and possum habitat for me 😍 next step is to plant a bunch of natives now that there’s a bit more ☀️

The first emepror penguin colony to suffer early sea ice break-up this season looks like Smith Peninsula in the Weddell Sea. Ice broke up in late Sept, refroze then broke again. There was sign of penguins at the end of the month, but any sign of them was gone by early Oct.
