We have a system of corrections, not punishment. Fair & Timely Parole (S307/A162) and Elder Parole (S2423/A2035) provide individuals an opportunity to be seen by a parole board to demonstrate their transformation and we need to pass them this session!

I joined Release Aging People in Prison Campaign in support of Elder Parole and Fair & Timely Parole bills in Albany. Our elders aren't sentenced to death, but that's what's happening. The $240K/yr we spend on locking them up should be reinvested in care for our elders. Parole justice now!

NEW: People in NY prisons & The Legal Aid Society are suing DOCCS for torturing people with mental health needs and disabilities in solitary confinement in violation of the HALT Solitary Law. See: nytimes.com/2024/05/08/nyr…
