If applications were processed properly, and within the previous six month time frame which this government decided to abandon, then the Home Office wouldn't need to warehouse people on floating hulks, camps, or even hotels. So that cost gets cut.

In fact when Rishi Sunak was Chancellor the plan to use barges like this was 'laughed off the table' by the treasury due to being prohibitively expensive. This government is running a PR stunt at the expense of those seeking safety.
