The second of our election briefings has been published today. This time we focus on social care. It's so important that the next government doesn't kick reform into the long grass and instead recognises social care as the essential pillar of our society and economy that it is.

The latest output from our Nuffield Foundation general election briefing and analysis grants looks at social care, an area that often doesn't get the attention it deserves but which is fundamental to the wellbeing of many in UK society, including some of the most vulnerable.

Great work from my former colleagues here. And it starts with seeing social care as equally important to health care, a service in its own right, not simply an adjunct to hospitals.

This new analysis reinforces the urgent need for national action to address disparities in cancer diagnosis and care for Black, Asian & minoritised ethnic patients.

'1 in 5 had 3+ GP conversations before diagnosis, rising to 1 in 3 for Mixed, Asian, and Black ethnicities.'
