The way Uni of Birmingham have handled these Unison University of Birmingham Branch negotiations is despicable - inviting individual staff members to “choose” new Ts&Cs for a £700 one-off bonus (in a cost of living crisis) or see how negotiations pan out when it’s clear the employer is just chancing 🤮🤬

Had 50% of my pay deducted in Jun-Jul. My workload is 125% (c 450 unpaid hrs) & I lose 80hrs of annual leave I can never take. Year-on-year. So, I work for free a lot & yet am docked for participating in action short of strike. The system is broken and so am I

New payslip, more deductions. In this year alone I have lost £4.5K for taking part in @Ucu industrial action to fight against increasingly dire working conditions in academia. Nothing good will come of this punitive wage theft; employers need to stop deductions now + negotiate
