Migrant earnings in the UK for largest source countries.

Large rise in immigration has *not* depressed relative migrant wages as yet.

No point wasting time itemising all the errors here, but important to debunk the repeated false claims about migrant wages, eg the reference to 'low-wage' 'Indians and Nigerians.'

Devastating Fergal Keane piece on BBC News (UK) 10 just now, using an American medicā€™s footage from Gaza. Children nearly dead from starvation-gaunt, lifeless, cadaverous. Unimaginable suffering for innocents.

No surpise that Timothy/Onward think the best way to reduce the UK's trade deficit is to reduce exports by cutting international student places.

What is astonishing is that anyone takes this sutff removely seriously..

The claim that PIP would save money was always misconceived. I made this prediction back in 2012: blog.spicker.uk/will-pip-blockā€¦

Agree with Robert Colvile that we should have a proper discussion about migration, and to do so requires facts - so letā€™s start with someā€¦

The work & pensions minister says the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is 'thousands of pounds a month'

If you qualify for the higher weekly rate & get the mobility part you get Ā£184.30 per week, which works out at Ā£798.63/month. So you don't get thousands of pounds a month

This is good on the vague piff-paff-poff of that silly Onward report. Let's get some crunchy detail going! Oh, there isn't any, what a surprise. šŸ™„

This is the kind of report that will be entered into evidence for the ICJ case. Incredibly important and well-done.

Genuinely bizarre interview this morning on BBC 5Live šŸ¤Ø
I was told the polls are ambiguousā€¦??
And when I explained how detention & deportations impact vulnerable people the presenter insisted we have ā€œno ideaā€ if that will happen as part of the Rwanda plan? Iā€™m confused.

Seeing lots of borderline transphobic posts about ā€˜gender-criticalā€™ social worker Rachel Meade winning at tribunal. My views on trans rights are well known, so I want to note something. As Iā€™ve said many times: you can believe what you like - itā€™s how you act that matters. šŸ§µ

'the biggest welfare reforms in a generation'

Since, er, the introduction of ESA (began 2008) and the replacement of DLA with PIP (2013).

Both designed to tighten eligibility, reduce claimant numbers, and save money. We know how that worked out..

PIP was introduced in 2014.

The Government said it was redesigning the PIP process to move away from a 'one size fits all' approach..

.. in 2015.

Perhaps Mel Stride should spend less time tweeting and more on understanding why things went wrong.
