I am saddened to hear of the passing of Frank Field. He was a true champion of welfare reform and working across parties to bring about change.

And while we didn’t agree on everything, his belief that welfare must be about transforming lives is one that I both admire and share.

We’re taking defence spending to 2.5% of GDP.

The biggest strengthening of our national defence for a generation.

We’ve seen a worrying trend in our welfare system.

More and more people are being written off work unnecessarily, and spending is growing at an unsustainable rate.

So we’re doing something about it🧵

Huge thanks to representatives from NHS, Okehampton Town Council and @NHSproperty for meeting and working with me on plans for the future of our hospital.

Key now is continued collaboration from all to ensure viable options for disused ward are developed. themoorlander.co.uk/news/home/1471…

Our Triple Lock means pensioners are £1,000 better off today than if pensions had risen in line with earnings.

And this week’s 8.5% boost increases pensions by up to £900.

We believe in providing a secure foundation for retirement, rewarding a lifetime of hard work.

I’m proud of Department for Work and Pensions investigators and Crown Prosecution Service for taking down this organised crime group who stole millions.

In 2022/23 we stopped £18 billion of taxpayers’ cash going into the wrong hands.

We are clamping down on fraud and putting fairness at the heart of our welfare system.

Today we’re uprating the State Pension by 8.5 per cent meaning pensioners will be £900 better off.

This comes on top of last year’s 10.1 per cent increase and our commitment to the Triple Lock.

Only the Conservatives are on the side of British pensioners.

🎯 NEWS: We've now hit our target of 150,000 more children benefitting from government childcare support this week.

But this is only the start, with thousands more families benefitting in the months ahead as we deliver the largest expansion of childcare in our country's history.
