NOAA has published its first estimate of the growth in global-average CO₂ concentration for 2023, at +2.81 ppm. GlobalCarbonProject's forecast was 2.4 ppm, the average of a time-series analysis giving 2.39 and an ESM multi-model mean giving 2.41. Let's unpack this.

Hmmm...US electricity demand barely grew since 2005, even as Data Centers grew to ~18GW of demand by 2023!

Mckinsey says Data Centers will add ~17GW by 2030. That barely moves national demand. Also, US will add 51 GW of capacity in 2024! Data Center growth is easily manageable.

Crazy statistic I learned today, 94% of the railway network in India is now electrified, nearly all of it done in the last 10 years.

UK, only 38% rail network is electrified. EU 56%.
