It's taken a while, but I'm really happy to finally have a proper work place to make the Swift nest boxes. Massive thanks to Jono for his patience with me and for clambering up the ladder to fit them, I have the easy bit 😮 Jono Leadley YorkSwifts York Birding

I've just been watching a Hobby very energetically hunting a small group of app. a dozen Swallows at Brockfield, before chasing them away East (10:06 am)York Birding
10:38 Brockfield (East of York) another Hobby, this time heading low Sth - Nth, as a group of 50-60 Swallows head roughly East York Birding
"Don't be a dunce, measure twice, cut once". An afternoon of marking gauges, criggit and the occasional beer 🍺 As much as I love being in the garage on the workbench, it's nice to be inside, measuring and marking out the Swift boxes sat on the settee YorkSwifts York Birding
I got to install a couple of the Swift nest boxes today. It was made "easier 🤔😂" with scaffolding and the boxes being fixed onto wooden barge boards. I have no Idea how Jono Leadley does it perched atop a ladder and fastening them into masonry 😮😮🙏@yorkswifts
Another half dozen Swift nest boxes all but finished. Just final sanding, a couple of coats of exterior varnish and the hangers to fit. Please see at YorkSwifts for details York Birding
I bought myself this wonderful edge-trimmer/router from eBay. Probably not the hardiest, but it'll only be getting light use on the Swift nest boxes. Thankfully I already have several cutting bits "In Stock" 🙂 YorkSwifts Jono Leadley York Birding
Just a mobile phone shot, but here is the beautiful male pale-phase Common Buzzard I regularly see around Brockfield, just to the Nth East of York York Birding
Hiya Shaun. We had a crackin' afternoon in The Maltings yesterday afternoon. A few pints of Roosters, cheesy chips and that lovely chilled out afternoon atmosphere that I remember so well. Cheers boss Shaun Collinge
I was amazed to see what turned out to be a Woodcock doing low level laps over our cul-de-sac off Heworth Green early on Tuesday morning, it even clipped a phone wire on it's first lap. I wasn't sure to begin with but after it's third time over I was sure of the ID York Birding
1 year ago TODAY my swift brick petition closed with 110k signatures leading to a proposal supported by experts. WHY no action? 'Apparently Rishi Sunak doesn’t like the idea&has blocked it.' - Zac Goldsmith Our PM doesn't want to save our icons of summer from extinction.
