Prior to STAMPEDE results, I can’t help but wonder how many men were denied curative treatment because they were wrongly thought to be M1 based on bone scan

The Earth is 4.5 billion years old and is expected to be swallowed by the sun in about 5 billion years, when Earth is 9.5 billion years old. If we make 100 million years one 'Earth year,' then the planet is currently 45 (out of a 95-year life). Humans are Earth's mid-life crisis.

Michael Hobbes I keep posting these very, very senior people (Baric, Russel, Le Duc) making very obvious points.

We don’t know —given censorship—yet we could be forward-looking and realize lax biosafety and wet markets *in cities* are both dangerous is factual and fine./n

Why overclaim?

For the public to trust science, they have to see that scientists are:

1. Truthful with journalists (& the public)
2. Transparent about who was involved in the work & potential conflicts of interest
3. Not adjusting conclusions to please editors or for other unscientific reasons

Pretty much every major news organization in the world, with some rare exceptions like The Wall Street Journal, Le Figaro, and Daily Mail U.K., should now be holding emergency editorial sessions assessing how they got the origins story so wrong and what they must now do to make amends.

It’s clear a lot of people still defending the Proximal Origin authors did not read through all the recently released emails and slack messages.

They wrote the paper to make clear that covid has a natural origin. It wasn’t a poor choice of phrasing leading to misunderstanding.

The 2020 'Proximal Origin' paper falsely claimed science showed COVID-19 did not have a lab origin. Newly released messages from the authors show they did not believe the conclusions of the paper and show the paper is the product of scientific fraud and scientific misconduct.…

It’s kind of weird that we were all at the Big Bang. Like the matter and energy in our bodies was all there. Then we floated in space, we were part of different stars, we exploded in supernovae, we came together as part of a planet, and at the moment, we’re a bunch of people.

Right now you can see Mars, Uranus, Venus, Jupiter, and Mercury at dusk. A great time to visualize our cosmic family and get a feel for how these things sit along the ecliptic plane. This is a composite image from a briefly period last year when it was visible before dawn.

On Friday, the sun put on a dazzling show for us. My friend Jason Guenzel and I worked hard over the last 5 days to produce this incredibly detailed 140 megapixel image to illustrate how wonderfully dynamic and beautiful our star can be. Make sure you zoom in!
