To reduce people to a phrase and 3 letter acronym that’s somehow both excessive in language but also lazy hits me as strange.

In LA a report has come out recently that shows that 3200 people were arrested or given tickets for being unhoused + had their stuff thrown away, and only 2 were placed in housing. At the low low cost of tens of millions of dollars.

What an incredible failure.

It's also a really good indication of age, class and non-disabled make-up of urban planning. Because up until very recently urban planning completely ignored adaptation and still primarily focuses on mitigation. Why? Because they can afford cooling.

Gabrielle Peters 👩🏻‍🦽@mssinenomine.bsky.social This is one of my favorite parts of Liberals solving issues by naming them differently : when they get mad at disabled ppl for calling themselves however the fuck they want to call themselves.

I have neighbours who are older and who sometimes forget and use all the 'wrong' words for disabled and my attitude is whatever, god bless, they have no ill intent & it's a lot to keep up with evolving language.
But same doesn't apply to the person-first police & there PWD bs.

'PWD' irritates tf outta me. And it extra irritates me that it's used by the same people who *insist* on person first language and lose it when you call yourself a disabled person arguing that anything other than 'person with a disability' is dehumanizing.
