Some lovely Briza media (Quaking Grass) now in flower at an old quarry outside Moycullen! One of my favourite grasses! Juniperus communis also beginning to take in limestone areas! BotanyPlantScience Irish Semi-natural Grasslands

On the way to see wet heathland in Herts yesterday with Flora Group, and we stopped by to see the Greater Broomrape (Orobanche rapum-genistae) on an arable edge. Only just unfurling so will get really big later in the season. Stunning!

Came across a Fly Orchid meeting this evening, plus some apple-green Common Twayblades (who always look like they've spilt drink down their fronts). Central Hampshire. Wild Orchids UK & Ireland BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland

The Norfolk orchid madness continues - now Northern Marsh Orchid has been found! Rather out of range to say the least! Unfortunately on private land so not accessible. BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland Britain's Orchids

Behind railings or next to a rodent control box, this yellow Ivy Broomrape Orobanche hederae f. monochroa likes to brighten up everyday urban dullness. Winchester, Hampshire. BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland
