The aforementioned,often much-maligned, Nettle (Urtica dioica) is host to the #Rust #fungus , Nettle Rust, Puccinia urticata. Many of these Rusts have primary and secondary hosts. In this case primary host is a range of Sedge (Carex) sp.

The much-maligned Nettle (Urtica dioica). The leaves look very attactive at this stage, fresh and green. Perhaps not so attractive to us when we brush past them, or touch them when taking photos of nature, but lots of beasties live in and around them.
