Think Cranefly sp, but unsure. Was stuck to False Puffball, or on cobweb. Blurry photos, I was trying to get a decent view of the dozen or so it was playing host to (6 on wing). Didn't like to go closer for obvious reasons! Cranefly Recording Scheme ENHS

The aforementioned, often much-maligned, Nettle (Urtica dioica) is host to the , Nettle Rust, Puccinia urticata. Many of these Rusts have primary and secondary hosts. In this case primary host is a range of Sedge (Carex) sp.

The much-maligned Nettle (Urtica dioica). The leaves look very attactive at this stage, fresh and green. Perhaps not so attractive to us when we brush past them, or touch them when taking photos of nature, but lots of beasties live in and around them.

It's back! Very odd how it skips a year and returns in exactly the same spot. Although this year it's growing out the side of the stump slightly. Chicken of the Woods (Laetiporus sulphureus). Hope nobody cuts it down like 2 yrs ago.

Veering towards Pygmy Shrew (Sorex minutus) based on length of tail being relatively long, colour paler brown and snout more conical. Unmarked as far as I could see, possibly dropped by a raptor? On E-W path across Goose Green. LaBMammalGroup Scottish Wildlife Trust ENHS

Eyelash sp (Scutellinia) fungus still at Bawsinch NR. I hadn't been along that path since early April as it was under a foot of water. Eyelash must have liked being under water too! Scottish Wildlife Trust Scottish Fungi ENHS

Disappointed not to see Speckled Wood y'day, normally reserve is hoaching at this time. But Holly Blue was special (already twe... oops posted!) and of course Orange-tips. Still coolish while the haar lifted so they posed nicely. Scottish Wildlife Trust BC East Scotland ENHS

Wee dance of glee - Holly Blue, my first this year, all the better for seeing it at Bawsinch. Saw two definite, possibly more, and the two looked like males fighting for territory. Scottish Wildlife Trust BC East Scotland ENHS

Bawsinch today, so confused with these Newts! Thinking this is Palmate Newt, Lissotriton helveticus; 2 individuals, 1 with square-shaped back mentioned in book & t'other pink/whitish unspotted throat. What do you think Natalie Harmsworth? TWIC Scottish Wildlife Trust ENHS

Looking for info on heronry at Duddingston Loch. How many active nests were there in 2023? Last figure I can find is 30 active nests 2015 (Birds of S.E. Scotland 2007-13). Photos taken 16/02/2024 (400mm x2 converter). Birding Lothian Stephen Welch Scottish Wildlife Trust ENHS

Osprey pair, Speyside, a very grey day so photos lightened (& cropped). I was a safe distance away from nest, hidden from their view. He brought in a fish, then mated with her before flying off. Nikon UK & Ireland Z6ii 100-400m with x2 teleconverter, hand held. Cairngorms Nature The SOC
