Why can’t I work supervised in GP / Primary Care during my FY3 year, but a PA can?

DrJCrane ZX Sorry, 3rd instance. 6m baby, I clearly described a severe cough that continued until baby seemed to stop breathing & then suddenly gasps. Infant didn’t produce this cough at PA r/v but I explained clearly. Reassured and sent home. No GP r/v.

DrJCrane ZX These symptoms worsened and evolved into classic croup, at which point, ambulance + ED presentation. I totally forgot I went to GP earlier that day, but in retrospect, I should have demanded a GP review. But also PA should have escalated to GP.

Joanne McGinn Erin DrJCrane ZX I don’t know who prescribed - GP or PA. When I got to the pharmacy, I picked up that the dosing was wrong. I had to call the practice repeatedly to try get it corrected, but in the end had to do a private prescription with my GMC #

DrJCrane ZX Second PA did not introduce herself as PA, did not correct me when I asked if she was an SpR, until I asked point blank if she was a PA.

Both were lovely, but not qualified or competent to be seeing undifferentiated, esp Paeds pts

How is a PA with hardly any training, seeing undifferentiated unwell children, and with zero discussion with a GP, prescribing antibiotics with the wrong dose?

How is that prescribing happening?

Covid caught in hospital with mask removed from his mum-apparently a ‘no mask policy’. Only knows she is positive as HE tested her- not the hospital.
Already lost his Dad to hospital acquired Covid
